August Birth Flower Print - Gladiolus & Poppy

Gladiolus are known for their tall, delicate spikes, known as the 'sword lily' from the Latin 'gladius' it represents moral integrity, courage and victory. Coupled with the the poppy, a symbol of remembrance throughout British culture since WW1 and WW2, August's Flowers are about honouring the lost, those resting in peace within our hearts and minds, those whose courage and strength give us the lives we now live.

I dont think it is a coincidence that my love of the shapes and symmetry of butterflies and moths has lead me to bow making. Shouldn't we all have a cute little set of wings of our own? My first collection of bows were created from 20 fabric samples that i designed in my first year of university, having lost the artworks and print files, i wont be able to replicate any of these designs again, making each bow completely unique.
