Jacquard weaving is an excellent way of creating reversibility in a fabric, weaving each side with the inverse colour-way

Although I specialised in print design and application, I also had the opportunity to learn how to programme and weave with the jacquard loom. These pieces are very precious to me, as the tutor that taught me sadly passed away a few months after my cohort graduated. Thank you Rosie.
Jacquard Weaving

Above - details of sampling colour-ways and the textures that can be achieved with different weaving structures - blending the 2 yarns in different arrangements gives a range of tones.

The gold & black shawl has such a luxurious feel to it, as the gold thread had an ever so slight shimmer to it. This was by far the most successful jacquard outcome because the veins within the design really represent the veins and structures in the wing - flowing and lengthening outwards.
